As I visited polling places around the County on election day and talked to voters, I was touched by the expressions of support for my candidacy. Because of the numerous conversations with many of you over the course of this campaign, I gained a better understanding of the tough work that lies ahead.
Voters want strong leadership here in Montgomery County. Leadership that will deliver. I'll be true to your expectations and commit to making keys changes in the way our County Council operates.
I have many people to thank for helping me to achieve this great accomplishment.
To my Mother --- thank you for teaching me what it means to have compassion for others and that we have a responsibility to help our community and those less fortunate. It has made me a great leader and father.
To my Father --- thank you for teaching me that through courage and integrity, you can stand in the face of adversity and persevere. Your strength and moral fiber is what I try to emulate each and every day. Semper fi!
To my wife ---- thank you for always believing in me and being my rock. God has blessed me with the most wonderful woman imaginable. I couldn't do any of this without you.
To my children --- thank you for understanding that your Dad isn't home a lot and isnt able to come to your games or shows because he is out trying to make other people's lives better. My hope is you too will reap the benefits of my work.
To my campaign team --- thank you for making Team Rice the formidable force it is. Two elections where the chips were stacked against us and we prevailed. You should all be proud of the accomplishment and know that I owe you a debt of gratitude.
And to my supporters --- thank you for everything you did, from the meet and greets to the neighbor to neighbor letters, from the campaign signs on your property to your votes ---- we won and we won BIG. And even though there were two heavily populated areas, Olney and Montgomery Village, which I never represented before, we still edged out my opponent by almost 20%!
So the hard work begins now, and I look forward to serving the residents of District 2 on the Montgomery County Council.
Thank you, warm regards and God bless,
